Renew Your Mind

With all these lies and sin justifications, I am starting to wonder about our Christian population. The most important thing is that they know Christ as their personal savior, but still, they are teaching falsehoods to those who might not be that familiar with the Bible. These people who lie to themselves also bring other people into their sin. This I can not stand. I will not sit by and watch them carry my brothers and sisters off to destruction.

As Christians we are to turn from our old self. We are to be “renewed” in mind. We should want to follow Christ and obey His commandments. This means that we have to disobey the “world”. If the world is telling you, “Yeah, go for it!”, then it is probably not something you should do.

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2 NKJV)

“This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.” (Ephesians 4:17-24 NKJV)

“Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.” (Colossians 3:5-10 NIV)

“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.” (Titus 2:11-15 NIV)

Did you know that if you are living by the “world”, you are not pleasing God? “Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.” (Romans 8:7-8 NKJV)

These people who “justify” their sin love the world more than they love God. They are more interested in pleasure and what they want to do, rather than what God wants them to do. “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.” (1 John 2:15-17 NKJV)

These people try to serve two masters. God has told us that that does not work. “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon."(Matthew 6:24 NKJV)

We are here to please God. Christ died for each of us, and gave us a free gift of eternal life if we accept Him. By renewing your mind and following God’s will, we please Him. Do you think we should strive to please the one that saved us? I think we should.

Christ Died For Everyone

Christ died for ALL SINS. He died for the “little sins” and the “big sins”. I have seen far too many people complaining about how murderers can get saved as well as a “common sinners”. Well, anyone who has a beef with God about that needs to read this.

The truth is that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”[1] God sees sin as black, not in shades of grey. If you are a murderer, you are just as bad as a liar. God even says that if you break one commandment, you break them all.

“For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. For He who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery, but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty. For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.” (James 2:10-13)

Honestly, we all deserve to go to hell for our sins, but Christ has given us grace through his death and resurrection. The word “grace” means “the free and unearned favour of God.”[2] That simply states that not one of us deserve life eternal, but God decided to give the invitation to all. It is God’s choice who goes to heaven, not ours. If you discriminate against a murder, a liar, a fornicator, a drunkard, etc. just remember that you are just as guilty as them.

How to Lose Your Salvation

Have you ever heard someone say, “be careful, you can lose your salvation.” Recently I have heard that too many times. These Christians say that you can lose your salvation, but does the Bible say that?

Our salvation comes through the grace of God, not by what we do.

“For by grace have you been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

“knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.” (Galatians 2:16)

“This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?” (Galatians 3:2-3)

There are quite a few verses that tell how to be saved. Romans 10:9, Acts 2:38, Acts 16:30-31, John 3:18, 36, John 11:25-26, John 20:31, etc. However, none of those verses say anything about losing your salvation. You would think that the Apostles/Christ would have said “Hey everyone, by the way, you can lose your salvation. Listen up...” The fact is that they do not say that you can lose your salvation. Why would they have told people how to get saved but not warn them about losing their salvation?

None of us deserve salvation, and neither can we do anything to atone for our sins. Salvation is a gift from God, not a reward. It is true that this is a good way to get people to do good works. However, our will to do good should not come from trying to save ourselves, it should come from wanting to please God.

Mormon Religion

The Mormons claim to be a Christian group. Their Churches are named “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.” They read the Bible, but the also read the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is composed of many writings of “prophets”.

Joseph Smith Jr., the creator of Mormonism, claimed to have seen God and Jesus, yet the Bible says that no man can behold God and live.[1] Who did Joseph Smith really see? Remember, Satan and his minions are fallen angels.[2] They could have easily appeared to Joseph and called themselves God.

They believe in many “prophets” words. These prophets have to be 100% accurate if they are true prophets of God. Although, I do not know of any prophecies to determine if they are true.

“To obtain life eternal one must so humble and purify himself that he in fact receives through the power of the Holy Ghost a personal witness that God is his Eternal Father and that Jesus Christ is God’s Son and our personal Savior as well as the Redeemer of the world.” -Marion G. Romney

The Mormons believe that we are saved through works. The Bible shows that we are not saved by works; we are saved through faith. “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9 NKJV)

“Family relationships can last forever—not just for this life.” Well, that would be nice, but it is not Biblical. The Bible states that marriages will not be continued in heaven. “For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.”(Mark 12:25)

The Mormons do not seem to be as far out there as Unity, but they are still unsaved. They do not believe in salvation through faith. They believe in repentance and salvation through works. They are not saved, and therefore, are not true followers of Christ.

Abortion: The Procedure of Complications

Alright, I am going to take a little break from bashing Satan’s lies. I wrote this paper for my TCC English class. It is a research paper on the effects of abortion.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Abortion has been performed for decades, but its main contribution to the lives of many women has been negative. Within this paper I intend to show the true nature of abortion. Abortion is considered a “safe” procedure, but is it really that safe? The word “safe” is defined as “Secure from danger, harm, or evil; free from danger or injury; free from risk” (“Safe”). Abortion has multiple negative affects and only one “positive” affect. The “positive” effect of abortion is it gets rid of the fetus from the mother’s womb. Can a procedure with an overwhelming amount of complications really be considered safe?

Abortion is done in many ways, but it has only one goal: the successful destruction of a fetus and removal from the womb. The most popular abortion procedure is called suction aspiration (abort73). This requires the doctor to insert a vacuum into the cervix. The doctor will then turn on the vacuum and dust-bust the baby right out of the womb. Babies can also be aborted through such measures as salt poisoning, multiple procedures require dismemberment of the fetus, or injection of prostaglandin, which causes premature birth. Each of these types of abortion have a different set of problems that can result from having the procedure. The list includes problems like: future birth problems, multiple types of cancer, internal bleeding, infection, severe damage to the uterus, and the possibility of death (afterabortion).

It seems that the chances of death from an abortion are slim, for the mother. The latest survey, of the year 2000, showed that only eleven women out of thousands died from having an abortion (abort73). Although, they might not die from the actual procedure, their chances of death rise dramatically (abortionfacts). Women who have abortions have a death toll within the next year four times higher than that of a woman who gives birth. Out of the women who have abortions, compared to women who do not, for the next year the chances of natural death goes up 60 percent, death from accidental injuries quadruples, homicide chance is multiplied by a whopping 14 times, and suicide sextuples. This does not mean that everyone who has abortion dies because of resulting problems, but it does show that women are closer to death with an abortion than women who give birth.

Abortions can also cause the women to contract cancer or have a greater chance of contracting a cancer. Breast cancer is said to be sometimes linked to abortions. Breast cancer is no laughing matter; it comes in second place for cancerous deaths of women ("Breast Cancer"). I am not quite sure how the breast is affected by the actual abortion, but when a mother is pregnant she produces milk for her offspring. When the baby is aborted, the milk is no longer needed. The abortion probably causes the hormones to come to a complete stop. This produces confusion in the mammary gland, which may later turn into breast cancer. For women who have had an abortion, the chance of developing breast cancer is nearly doubled (afterabortion). Women also have the risk of acquiring cervical, ovarian, and liver cancer. Each time they have an abortion, their chances for cancer increases.

Abortions carry a ten percent chance of causing a directly related problem or problems (abortionfacts). The main type of abortion, suction aspiration, uses a high powered vacuum. This vacuum can cause several nasty side effects. The vacuum tube has a blade at the end of it. If it comes in contact with the walls of the uterus, it can leave large cuts and cause interior bleeding. If the fetus is not fully removed, the mother can suffer from an infection (Reardon, 94). If one of the baby’s bones shatter, then it can pierce or lacerate the mother’s womb (abortionfacts). The method that has some of the most complications is called Dilation and Evacuation. However, Dilation and Evacuation is typically used only when the fetus is old enough. This method requires the doctor to rip the fetus apart with a “pliers-like instrument” (abortionfacts). To ensure that no parts were left behind, the nurses have to put the fetus back together like a jigsaw puzzle. Sounds like a pretty sick puzzle to me. This form of abortion can cause infection, emotional damage to hospital staff, intense pain for the mother, and multiple types of vaginal area damage. Other methods, like saline poisoning and hysterotomy, are very risky for the mother. Those methods are so hazardous that they are rarely ever used (Rodman, Sarvis, and Walker 68).

The mother can suffer from tons of physical complications, but she can suffer from psychological problems too (afterabortion). Many women suffer from post traumatic stress disorder after they have an abortion. Women may experience regret or feel guilty of doing wrong. A study showed that out of 70 women, 47 women suffered from mild to severe depression (Sachdev, 192). Abortion is also attributed to giving some women sleeping problems, eating disorders, and nervous disorders (afterabortion). Aborted women are two times as likely to fall to alcoholism and smoking. Abortions cause an increased risk of drug abuse. Mothers may also become neglectful or abusive to spouse, future and/or current children. The doctoral staff can also be emotionally scarred from doing or seeing some of the abortions. Mrs. Brenda Shafer said this after witnessing an abortion, "It was the most horrifying experience of my life." Truthfully, abortion mentally affects everyone who is involved with the procedure or involved with the mother.

No matter how you look at it, abortion is unhealthy. There is no single safe procedure for the mother, and each form of abortion has its own set of complications. The procedure itself can traumatize and mentally harm the mother. Not only can it hurt the mother, it can emotionally scar the doctoral staff too. Abortion has forever ruined many people’s lives and will continue to do so. So I must ask, does this procedure seem safe anymore?

How to Defend Against Satan's Lies

It is important for us to read our Bibles. Reading the Bible is one of God’s ways to talk to us. However, it is also very important to store verses in our memory. Verses keep our sword sharp and our spirit strong.

Having scripture in your heart is very important:

“My son, keep my words and store up my commands within you. Keep my commands and you will live; guard my teachings as the apple of your eye. Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart. Say to wisdom, "You are my sister," and call understanding your kinsman;”(Proverbs 7:1-4 NIV)

Storing verses in our heart is the only way to avoid false beliefs. If you do not know what the Bible says, people have an easier time deceiving you. If you are a Christian then you should want to obey God. How can you obey God if you do not know His commandments or teachings? How can you have a relationship with God if you do not give Him a chance to talk to you?

“How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”(Psalms 119: 9-11 NIV)

Well, it seems I can’t get off this topic right now. Unity, not praying, Biblical abortion, and Biblical homosexuality are all mislead beliefs. However, these beliefs are easily overthrown. I think I figured out why people can be mislead so easily. They do not read their Bibles, they do not retain God’s word, or they are not saved.

(Only God knows if someone is saved, so I am not going to speak on that issue. However, if a person does not have the Holy Ghost, then reading the Bible will do nothing for him.)

Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears. Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.” (Acts 20:30-32 NIV)

Look what happens to people that do not “retain” God in their mind:

“who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.” (Romans 1: 25-32)

Sometimes God gives us promises for reading and retaining scripture:

“My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.” (Proverbs 3:1-2 KJV)

“God blesses the one who reads this prophecy to the church, and he blesses all who listen to it and obey what it says. For the time is near when these things will happen.” (Revelation 1:3 NIV)

The Bible is loaded with tons of information. If we wish to always follow Christ, then we need to know the information in the Bible. Think about how easy it is to trick someone if they know little about the subject. Do you really want to let Satan have a chance to trick you?

One Lane Highway

Let’s say that you are driving on the highway. You see a sign that says “CAUTION, use the middle lane, sink holes ahead.” What would you do? Of course, you would get in the middle lane.

Well, I am about to show you that caution sign. There is only one lane to heaven. Christ is the only way. “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”[1] “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”[2]

Christ came down to this earth with one purpose. He came here to save man from eternal pain. Christ died on the cross and rose again so that we could have a chance to go to heaven. He made it possible for us to have a safe road, but there is only one road.

Now you have read the caution sign. What will you do?

If you would like to get in the middle lane, this is all you have to do. Believe with all your heart that Christ died on the cross and rose again in order to save your life from eternal pain. Secondly, admit that you are a sinner and that you need Christ in order to change and save your life. Thirdly, ask for forgiveness for all that you have done wrong.

About salvation: I Corinthians 15: 2-4, John 3: 16, Romans 10: 9, Acts 2: 38, Acts 15: 11, Acts 16: 30-31, Ephesians 2: 8-9, I John 4: 14-15

Truth Is One, Paths Are Many?

Have you ever heard “Truth is one, paths are many”? Yes, I am talking about Unity. They say that “Unity is positive, practical Christianity.” Unity claims to be Christians, they claim to teach the gospel of Christ, and they say “The Bible is Unity’s basic textbook.” Yet, are they really Christians?

Unity believes that sin is bad thoughts, and they believe that salvation is when we turn our thoughts to good things. They do not believe that “through Christ are we saved”, they believe “through Christ-like thoughts are we saved.”

Unity does not believe in “traditional” heaven and hell. They believe that “heaven and hell are states of consciousness, not geographical locations.” I honestly do not know where they acquired this thought from the Bible. The Bible clearly shows that heaven and hell are the two places people go after death.[1] The story of Lazarus and the rich man pretty much sums up heaven and hell (see Luke 16: 19-31).

Unity says that they believe in the Trinity. However, look at their definition of the trinity. “Unity interprets the religious terms Father, Son, and Holy Spirit metaphysically, as three aspects of mind action: mind, idea, and expression. This is the process through which all manifestation takes place”. The Trinity are real physical beings, not three ways of thinking.[2]

Unity believes in regeneration, or positive reincarnation. “This allows us to attain new understandings in a new life experience, so that we can eventually express perfection and demonstrate eternal life. This is our ultimate goal. Unity's real emphasis is on regeneration, not reincarnation. When we achieve this goal, as Jesus did, it will no longer be necessary to reincarnate.” I do not remember the Bible ever saying anything about reincarnation. This is definitely not the teachings of Christ.

This religion does not believe in the return of Christ. “Members of the Association of Unity Churches understand the Second Coming as the individual expression of the Christ consciousness. This is not an event to be anticipated in the future. It is happening here and now, through prayer, meditation, study, and application.” Have they ever heard of the book of Revelation? How about Matthew 24-25, Mark 13, Luke 21, Acts 1: 11, I Thessalonians 4: 15-18, II Peter 3: 16, Jude 14-18, etc. They have to be blind to have missed all those verses.

This is probably the most important flaw of their teachings. They believe that “Jesus was a special person in history who expressed perfection and thereby became the Christ, or Jesus Christ. He was a Teacher who demonstrated the importance of thoughts, words, and deeds in shaping the life and world of the individual.” They do not believe that He is the Son of God. They see Him as a “special person” who obtained perfection of mind, idea, and expression. To my knowledge Christ states that He is the Son of God.[3] Christ also states how to gain salvation.[4]

They say that they follow Christ, yet they ignore the purpose of His life. They read the Bible, but they “miss” the parts about salvation. They are so consumed with “good thoughts” that they overlook the one truth and the one path. They consider Christ a good teacher, and they deny His divinity. Still, they claim to be Christians that call the Bible their book. These people are clearly delusional. There is only one truth and one path.[5]

Why Pray?

A while back, I was on a forum about prayer. The question was, “how often do you pray?” There was one response that I read that was unnerving. “I don’t pray. God knows what’s best and knows what I need. So, I don’t need to pray.” Her faith is inspiring, but she has got the wrong idea. Prayer is our way to talk to God. It is an important part of our everyday life. I Thessalonians says “always pursue what is good.”[1] One of the things to pursue is “pray without ceasing.” This chapter alone shows how important prayer is.

If we don’t need to pray, then why do so many Biblical figures pray? You can look at pretty much any godly figure in the Bible and find a verse where they pray. The best example I can think of is Daniel.[2] King Darius signed a decree that made it illegal to pray to any god for thirty days. Daniel knew about the law, but prayed anyways. He could have chosen not to pray at all, but he continued to pray to God three times a day. He accepted the punishment and was thrown into the den of lions. However, he survived, for God protected him. If we don’t need to pray, why did Daniel continue to pray?

These people are probably misled by Matthew 6: 8: “Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.” Yet, Mathew 6: 9-13 is all about showing us how to pray.

How do Christians live without prayer? Prayer is our way to talk to God. Reading the Bible is God’s way of talking to us. If they don’t pray, they are missing out on their relationship with God. A friendship goes both ways. How can you have a relationship with someone if you don’t even talk to them?

Faith in Satan’s Lies

The Christian-homosexual argument obviously has a major flaw. They believe man’s word over God’s word. They believe in what man has to say about the Bible before they believe what God says in the Bible. “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness.”[1] They say they are followers of God, yet they listen to men before God. “It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.”[2]

The abortionists are trying to piece together scripture to say that abortion is okay, yet they forget God’s power. They don’t even realize what they are saying. These people know what the scripture literally says, but they do not know what it means. They read it, but they do not understand it. They don’t see the big picture. They stare at the gnat, but they don’t notice that it sits on a camel.

“Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.” (Matthew 23: 24, 27-28 KJV)

By now, you are wondering how abortion and homosexuality have something in common besides being sin. Well, you are about to find out.

The Christian-abortion argument and the Christian-homosexual argument are both views of the delusional. These people have fallen to the lies of Satan. God actually warns us in the Bible not to be fooled. Unfortunately, many have not taken heed to these warnings.

“The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”
(II Thessalonians 2: 9-12 NKJV)

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.” (II Timothy 4: 3-4 NKJV)

“Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.” (I Timothy 4: 1-3 NKJV)

Many of these Christians are set in their ways. Some do not listen to other people that go against their preferences. They love the lies that they follow, for it makes them feel better about their sin. Some even consider us to be fools. God gives us advice when dealing with these people.

“But avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and useless. Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition, knowing that such a person is warped and sinning, being self-condemned.” (Titus 3: 9-11 NKJV)

I found this verse by accident, but I had to follow its advice. I hope this paper will help you see through the lies that Satan has made.
