Biblical Laws of Marriage

Well, I figured I would go ahead and write about marriage. You will be surprised at how complicated it is. There are rules and exceptions to marriage and divorcement, and there are rewards and punishments according to your actions before and after marriage.

Marriage is defined by Christ as “two shall become one flesh”[1], which the same description is found in Genesis 2: 24. He also says that marriage is the reason for a man to leave his parents. Now, this does not mean you should live in your parent’s basement until marriage, it is just saying that it is the driving force behind the young adult’s desire to be out on his own. God wishes for us to be married, “He who finds a wife is a good thing, and obtains favor from the Lord”[2] and “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth”[3]. God also created eve because he knew that man did not need to be alone.[4] Finding a good spouse is also, well, somewhat hard. I think this verse sums it up, “Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.”[5]

(Legally divorce- to divorce and be able to remarry without it be considered adultery)

There are quite a few regulations and exceptions to marriage and divorcement. The Bible does not say “do not divorce”, problems arise when we remarry. The only way that you can “legally” divorce someone is if they are sexually immoral.[6] However, there is one way that you can be “legally” divorced by your spouse and still remarry. If the person that you are married to you is not saved, then they can divorce you and it would not be adultery for you to remarry.[7] If both of you are saved and divorce not of adultery, then you should not remarry.[8] The only way for you to “legally” remarry after an unlawful divorce is to marry the person you divorced.[9] If your spouse dies, then you can also remarry legally.[10] If you are married to someone, “do not seek to be loosed”.[11] Try to work through your problems. Think about it, if you loved that person enough to walk down the aisle with them, then pray for them and try to work through your problems instead of just saying “well, time for a divorce”.

To avoid adultery and immorality you must be very careful. To avoid adultery you must follow the rules of marriage carefully and not fornicate with a person that you are not married to. If you also look at a woman with lust, then you have “committed adultery with her in your heart”.[12] God also holds judgment for those who fornicate and participate in adultery.[13] As Christians, we know better than to fornicate, so God expects us not to.[14] We are also fully capable of resisting temptation.[15]

Marriage and divorce are complicated issues. Hopefully I made it easy for you to understand. It took me a while to compile all this information, so I hope it helped you understand the issues a little better now.

Your brother in Christ,
Andrew Sapronetti

Evangelism

Well, now I must make a confession. The last sermon that brother Hogue gave us, was something I desire to see happen. During that sermon, I could hardly contain myself. Hearing him speak about that made me want to jump for joy and praise the Lord right then and there. I have often dreamt about American revival, but never really thought it would happen any time soon. This is my dream for America, that it can somewhat return to what it was and have one nation under God. Here is the big question, how? Do you realize that God mainly used J. Edwards and G. Whitfield to start the last major revival. If there are twelve of use, or even five, do you realize what kind of effect we could have on America if we fully, 100% of the way, hand our lives over to God. There is a spiritual war that is being fought in America today. I do not know about you, but I want to enlist in God’s army to fight in the American front lines! I can not idly sit back and watch my beloved country turn into a bigger pool of sin any more.

Evangelism is one thing that American Christians today, do not do enough of. Do you realize how many people go to the mall? Too many. What if we go to the mall and just start to share God’s word with random people. How many do think would get saved? Do you remember the circuit rider preachers? They rode town to town preaching God’s word on horseback during the late 1700s early 1800s. The apostles also went around and preached God’s word from town to town. Now days, our malls hold a lot of people. The towns the preachers would have rode into would have been about the same population.

The even bigger question, is what is holding us Christians back from sharing it in America? We are not faced with death every day like the Chinese or Indians. The worst we can get is criticism. Even if we were persecuted, that just means we get to go meat the Lord. So then, what is stopping us, “If God is for us, who can be against us!”[1]

You also got to realize that we can’t be the only youth this concerned about America. You’ve got to think that there are other youth Christians out there hoping that some one else has the same desire. God needs soldiers in every field of work, but the real question is, how much of our life are we willing to let God use?

Abortion

This is a report I did a while back. I had a few people interested in my research, so here it is. There is a lot of info here, and it is 2000 something words long.

Abortion is one of the most controversal freedoms in America today. People have the legal “choice” to abort their own baby. This report will shine through the darkness with facts and evidence of what truly is and what is not.

1 Women have abortion for many different reasons. Most times they are for these reasons: unwanted pregnancies, rape, incest, dangers to the mother, complications of birth, physical handicaps, and mental handicaps. Unwanted pregnancies are aborted normally out of wedlock. Rape abortions are very rare, and most of the time rape does not cause that many pregnancies. Incest is not normally reported when it forms a child, but it does not normally make pregnancies (much like rape). If there is a possibility that the mother will die or the baby will die early, then the doctor will recommend having an abortion. Handicaps have been a big issue for years. People think that the baby will grow up and have a miserable life, so they abort the child. Many people think of this as “putting the child out of its misery” (www.abortionfacts.com). Other people do not want to deal with the responsibility of taking care of a handicapped child, or they feel that they do not have the money to take care of the child. Many people use abortion as a “last resort birth control”. Basically, if there protection or pills do not work, they get an abortion.

2 Doctors all around the world have been performing abortions for decades. In the U.S. abortions have been legal since 1973, but doctors have been performing “back-alley abortions” (www.abortionfacts.com) for years before 1973. Doctors do not see this as wrong or murder, for they classify the babies as fetuses. A fetus is considered not living. There are about six different common ways of performing abortion. One of the ways, Dilation and Evacuation, has caused doctors to not perform this type of abortion. It is referred to as “devastating to the hospital staff”. This is one of the safer forms, but it is not done often. In this procedure the doctor and staff must “twist and tear” (www.abortionfacts.com) the baby’s body, which causes dismemberment. They then must cut the placenta and remove it from the uterus. The procedure is preformed this way because of the baby’s “advanced development” (www.abortionfacts.com). Because of the brutality and viciousness of this abortion, most doctors disagree with it. Most doctors perform Suction Abortion, but it is more hazardous to the mother than the Dilation and Evacuation abortion. (This is rather ironic) In biology class people (doctors too) are taught the attributes of life. If an organism has all that attributes of life, then it is considered living. The fetus has all of the attributes of life, which means it should be considered living. Most doctors are convinced of the fetus as non living and have a clear conscience.

3 People classified as pro-choice, in my opinion, are people who support abortion and/or have had an abortion and still think it is correct to have a choice. Pro-choice people have a wide variety of beliefs about abortion. One reason they believe in abortion is because of rape and incest. Lots of abortionist believe that abortion should be made a choice because of rape and incest. Others believe that “without abortion we will overpopulate the earth” ( www.abortionfacts.com). This idea of overpopulation is completely lame. If we had to our engineers could think of something, taller buildings, water/underwater houses, space colonies, ect. Some believe that we should only abort the ones that don’t match our desire, “Every child a wanted child” ( www.abortionfacts.com). In “Every child should be a wanted child” they believe that it is good to abort the children you do not want and keep the ones you do. This idea will make the world a place where you only have the children that you want to have. One of their main beliefs is that the fetus is just forming tissue and that is not living. One idea is that “aborting unwanted children will reduce the number of abused children” ( www.abortionfacts.com). This idea is completely stupid. The highest form of abuse is to kill, but in their eyes abortion is not death or a killing. Another belief of pro-choice is that “If abortion is outlawed women will be forced to go to back-alley abortion clinics.” ( www.abortionfacts.com) There is no forcing involved, they would have the choice of going to a back-alley clinic or not. If it was outlawed, then back-alley clinics would be illegal. Another argument is “too many people get sick and/or die from back-alley clinics” ( www.abortionfacts.com) . Like I said before, people do not need to have abortions, which means they have the choice to risk their lives by going to a back-alley clinic. They could complain that the back-alley clinics are not clean, but that would be admitting to doing something illegal. Most pro-choice people will say that “The women has the right to do whatever she wants with her own body” ( www.abortionfacts.com). Okay, the woman has the rights to her body, but in abortion you are harming another organism’s body. There are many ideas of the pro-choice people, but these that have been listed are not all of their ideas.

4-5 Most Christians believe that a fetus is a living baby with a soul. If you look up Psalms 139: 12-17, it talks about being a baby in the womb. It says that God knew the baby before it was born while it “was made in secrecy”. It also states that God knew his members before they were even made. In Genesis 1:27, it states that God made man in his image. In Jeremiah 1: 4-5, it states that God knew him in the womb and had “sanctified thee, and ordained thee a prophet unto the nations”. Acts 17: 24-25 states that God made everything; that means God lets things happen and there are no accidents. In God’s eyes this is an evil act and we should see it the same way. Matthew 18: 6 states that it is better to tie a millstone to your neck and jump into the sea than to offend a child. If offending a child is that bad, then think of how bad it is to kill a child. Most Christians believe that fetuses are living, but that does not always stop them from having an abortion. Many Christians believe that a mother can abort a baby caused by rape or a baby caused from incest, but that goes against what Acts 17: 24-25 says. Other Christians believe that it is wrong to abort a baby no matter what the reasons are. Using the Bible as a reason for not aborting babies will not work as a valid argument tool. Atheists do not care what God thinks, because they do not believe in God in the first place. This is the same for most, if not all, pro-choice people. One of the pro-choice arguments is “they do not want other people’s morals forced upon them” ( www.abortionfacts.com).

6 Abortion is the act of removing or deleting the fetus. Abortion is done in about six different ways in the average U.S hospital. The most popular way is the Suction Abortion. The doctor will stick a tube into cervix. The tube is connected to a jar and a vacuum. The vacuum is then turned on. The vacuum will then rip the placenta from the uterus and it will dismember the fetus’s body. There are two main risks that this type of abortion has. The vacuum could puncture the uterus, which could cause internal bleeding. If any body parts are left inside the womb, infection or a hemorrhage can take place. Another type of abortion is called Dilation and Curettage. This type of abortion is used on fetuses that are seven-twelve weeks old. The doctor will push a curette into the cervix. The curette will then be used to dismember the fetus. This process will scrape the wall of the uterus and will have “substantial bleeding”( www.abortionfacts.com) involved with the process. This process can also have infection or a hemorrhage. To keep that from happening doctors will put the dead body back together, like a jigsaw puzzle, to make sure they have all the pieces. One of the more rare methods is called Dilation and Evacuation. In this procedure the doctor and staff must “twist and tear” (www.abortionfacts.com) the baby’s body, which causes dismemberment. They then must cut the placenta and remove it from the uterus. The procedure is preformed this way because of the baby’s “advanced development” ( www.abortionfacts.com). It is safer than most methods of abortion, but because of its vicious brutality most doctors will not perform this operation. Another form of abortion is Salt Poisoning, saline injection. This is the second most used form of abortion performed by doctors. They usually use this method once the fetus is older than 16 weeks old. The doctors will take a long needle and stick it through the mother’s abdomen area. The doctors will then add the saline to the sac of amniotic fluid, which is found surrounding the fetus inside the womb. The baby will swallow the saline and its skin will then slowly burn away. This process can take up to an hour to fully work. This process is very dangerous, and for that reason other countries have abandoned it as a type of abortion. If the saline inters her bloodstream, then it can find its way to her kidneys or lungs and damage them severely. This process is also not very successful in some cases which will leave the baby alive or, most of the time, alive and skin damaged. The fourth method mentioned is Hysterotomy. In this procedure the doctor will take the fetus out of the mother’s womb. The fetus then dies from abandonment or is killed. This procedure is preformed if saline poison or Prostaglandin Abortion does not work; it is also used for late term abortions. This procedure has the biggest chance of hurting the mother and it has the highest percent of live births. The last main form of abortion is Prostaglandin Abortion. This procedure requires a doctor to inject prostaglandin into the amniotic sac. The mother will then go into violent labor and premature birth. Live birth happens vary often in this procedure. This type of abortion is, most of the time, only used when the operative hospital has a neonatal intensive care unit. The mother has risk for this procedure too. The main risk of this type of abortion is cardiac arrest. There are many risks from having an abortion which include: severe bleeding, problems with future pregnancies, become sterile, needing a hysterectomy, severe infection, breast cancer, mental problems, and the possibility of death. Abortion is not necessary; there is always the choice of putting your child up for adoption.

7 Many women do have problems after they have an abortion. Many that do have problems, more than likely had abortions when they were teenagers, divorced parents, or had a previous history of having abortions. Most women who are affected will go into denial and depression. Women will also have regrets and will feel sorry for what they did and feel mad towards themselves for a good amount of time. Abortions can cause the women to have nightmares, sleeping problems, and nervous disorders. Most of the time it is not a long term affect, but some people will live with the regret for the rest of their lives.

Abortion should not be legal in this country, and it is an act that defies God the Creator. People do not have to abort their child, they have the option to put their child up for adoption. Not only does abortion cause physical problems, but it can also cause mental problems too. The bottom line is, abortion is the killing of an innocent child.

Ghosts

This is a link to a news article that takes place in post-destroyed New Orleans.

http://cbs5.com/topstories/local_story_259121855.html

Last year a friend of mine came to me, and he was very distraught. He told me he was having problems at home. He then told me everything. Apparently a ghost was bothering him. As soon as he said ghost, I started thinking this was some kind of really elaborate joke. Unfortunately, he was dead serious. At this time I did not believe in ghost, even though my mom has seen one. I told him it might be a demon, and asked him if he was saved. He said he was, so I then told him to make sure to read/pray every morning/night, for he did not walk with the Lord often. I immediately went home and devoted my day to research in my Bible and on the internet. I was astonished, the Bible actually talks about ghosts! The next day, I brought this information to his attention. His parents brought in a priest to exorcise the house, it didn’t work. He went on for about another month with little-to-no sleep. It finally disappeared and hasn’t come back sense. I could tell that it was no joke, for he was always tired and he was not his normal cheerful self.

This recent problem in Louisiana moved me to show you this research. As eerie and weird as this research might be, I formed the theories directly from scripture.

In Genesis 25: 8 and 17 it says that Abraham and Ishmael died (Acts 12:23 also). They gave up the ghost to be more exact. In I Samuel 28:14-15 Saul goes to a witch and brings Samuel’s spirit to them. Saul then talks to dead Samuel through the witch. Reading this even makes my hair stand on ends, Job 4:13-21. Job gets scared by a ghost and in the same way that people talk of today. In Matthew 14: 22-36 the disciples think that Christ is a “spirit”. In Matthew 17: 3 Moses and Elias appear and talk with Christ. In Matthew 27: 52-53 the dead get up and walk once again. In Luke 24: 39 Christ tells the disciples what a spirit is like. He said that it has no bones or flesh. I think this verse speaks for itself Revelation 20: 4-5.

In the New Testament when a Christian is talked about as being dead, it says that they are “asleep”. I Cor. 11: 30, I Cor 15: 51, Eph. 5: 14, and I Thes. 4: 14 are all examples of “Christian sleep”. But what of the unsaved; do they sleep too?

This is my theory that I came up with last year when I helped my friend out. When Christians die, we go into a “spiritual coma” or another-words, we sleep. The people, who are not saved, do not sleep, thus allowing ghosts. Or ghosts could also be the manifestation of demons. We cannot see the spiritual world, but they sometimes can or always can see us. Somehow they can sometimes become apparent in one of the five senses. The reason behind this occasional appearance, I do not know. Why we do not see them more often, I also do not know.

This verse is the reason that I do not believe we immediately go into God’s presence- Mat. 19: 30 and along with the verses about sleeping. To explain this, I came up with my spectral realm idea. People are not sent to heaven or hell as soon as they die. They spend the rest of earth’s existence in spiritual sleep. Sleep, in most cases, is instantaneous, besides dreams. As soon as I go to sleep, the next thing I know is that my alarm clock is going off. So, in a way we are in God’s presence immediately(God’s time), but in another way, we are not(earth’s time).

This theory allows Christ the capability of resurrection, allows Saul the capability to talk to the spirit of Samuel, allows the presence of ghost, and edifies the presence of God.

Think about Christ raising some one from the dead. If people died and went strait to heaven/hell here is what would happen, in a silly fashion: Lets say “Billy the unsaved” died and went to hell. A week later, God calls Billy on the spirit phone, from his judgment seat. He tells Billy that he has good news. Apparently Billy gets to leave hell, for Christ is about to raise his body from the dead. Now, how much sense does that make. But if spirits sleep or roam, all Christ would have to do is heal the body and awaken the spirit of Billy.

This is one of my more "favored" papers. I've heard a lot of comments about this one. It is an interesting thought, and who knows, may be I am on to something.

Demons

Demons and exorcisms have been a hot topic since the movie The Exorcist, but in this day and age, can it still happen? Or did Christ’s death stop them from the power of possession?

In the Bible even after Christ death, the apostles ran into demons. This means that they can still posses people today, but they cannot posses Christians. Christians carry within themselves the Holy Ghost, so demons can not inhabit Christian bodies. They can, however, inhabit people who do not have the Holy Ghost in them, and then they can harm others or the host. I also intend to look at the possible relation of demons and mental illnesses throughout this year in psychology.

I am still not sure if we can see demons, but there are weird things that happen in this world. My uncle, who is a Christian, has seen big foot. He was in a cabin with a friend in Washington state. All of a sudden, the hair on their necks stood up and their blood ran cold. They then looked around and noticed something at the window. It was large, furry, and had blood red eyes. My uncle is not someone who I suspect to be scared easily. He parachuted over panama at night with gunfire aimed all around him, for Pete’s-sake(this was when he was in the military). But this thing, it scared the mess out of him and his friend. Unfortunately, his friend died the next day in a car crash. My uncle has said that it was not big foot, but a demon or that big foot is a demon. This is the only experience I personally know of about demons, other than the Bible.

Well, according to the Bible, demons can do a lot of different things to people. This is what made me wonder about some mental illnesses, for scientists are still unsure of their causes. Scientists have noticed that a difference in brain activity. Maybe this abnormal brain activity is a result from demon possession or demon oppression. I have yet to figure out if it is or not, and probably never will. What about some drugs? They seem to alter the human thinking and actions the same way some mental illness can. Could drugs be a link to demons also? Yet again, I do not have the answers or even a guess for this subject. Demons can, however, take over people and animals. The ironic thing is they have to have God’s permission first in order to posses something (Mark 5: 12-13).

Demon of Divination or Prediction - Acts 16:16
Demon of Super Strength and/or Self Abuse - Mark 5: 1-15
Demon of Possession - Mark 1: 23-27
I am not sure what these demons did, but all seven were in Mary Magdalene - Luke 8: 2
Demon of Muteness - Matt. 9:32-33
Demon of Long Term Possession - Luke 13: 16
Demon of Blindness/Muteness - Matt. 12: 22-24
Demon of Epilepsy - Luke 9: 39-42

Well, I am not sure if epilepsy is demon possession, but read that passage, it basically describes an epileptic.

These demons were not described, but they were cast out.

Futile Ambition

It’s funny how you can find inspiration to write. This particular paper came from a conversation with a friend. He jokingly asked me if I would write his paper for ten bucks. I told him no. Then he said that I would if he were to offer 100 dollars. I still said no. The end price was something like ten million. I still told him I wouldn’t write it for even that much money. Money does not bring true happiness and is temporary. I prefer a clear conscience over money, how bout you?

Money has been the ideal goal for countless men who have walked on this planet. People have done horrible things to get more money. This includes thing like killing, stealing, cheating, lying, and double crossing friends or even family. But when you stop and think about it, is having lots of money worth it?

The Bible calls money “the root of all evil.”[1] If you lust after money, you will be sidetracked from God’s path for your life. The Bible clearly states that a man who loves money “becometh unfruitful.”[2] Christ said, “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.”[3] This is how much power money and riches can have over a person. The lust of riches is just like a poison. It is easy for it to enter into your body, but it is very hard to be taken out. It leads you down one path, destruction. “But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.”[4] God wants you to put Him first, others second, and yourself last.[5] The lust of money teaches you to put yourself first. If you lust after money, then how can you put God first in your life?

Money is temporary and it does not go to heaven with you.[6] Whatever you gain on this earth does not travel to heaven with you. That means that everything you own is temporary and will not last forever. When you die, what happens to your money? To my knowledge, when you die, your house and belongings do not vanish and then reappear in heaven. Ironically, your belongings will be dispersed to whoever is on your will. That basically means, what you owned, now becomes someone else’s. Do not despair, life on earth is not pointless. We should be doing what is right and following God’s path for our life. Our reward waits for us in heaven according to how we acted on the earth.[7]

As I said before, we should not lust after money, but we should want to do God’s will. Having a love of money will only hurt and hinder you. If we do God’s will and follow Him always; then He will provide for us.[8] God knows what is best for us, and we should always trust Him in every aspect of life.

The Christian Life

In the Bible, it talks strongly about how to act and behave as a Christian. Our most apparent model is Jesus Christ. We should always try to reflect Him on every area of our life. This is something that many Christians have almost forgotten about. People give in to fashions, norms, and trends too easily.

Being different is essential to a Christian’s life. We must be good examples to everyone so that we may have good reputation. Who would you more willingly listen to about Christ, a person living in sin or a person who you can tell is different? To keep good reputations, we must separate ourselves from the ways of the world. Check out I Corinthians 5:9-13. It says that we should not “keep company” with a Christian who is absorbed in sin and “not even to eat with such a person.” This is how strongly God thinks of our personal reputations. We are supposed to separate ourselves from the wickedness of the world, just like Christ did with his life.[1] However, Christ was well known for eating and spending time with sinners. “For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”[2] This is how we should be also. Corinthians 5 was trying to say that our best friends should not be Christians who have not given up their sinful life.

As Christians, we have to follow God’s will. One thing God wishes us to do is to dress modestly. Today, when you venture out of your house, you see many people dressed in almost nothing. This is the norm today for women: miniskirts, tube tops, thongs, skimpy bathing suits, extremely tight pants/shorts, etc. Unfortunately I know quite a few Christian girls who wear this type of apparel. I Timothy 2:9-10 commands women to dress modestly and not with expensive clothing. Guys wear un-tucked shirts, baggy pants, sideways hats, secular t-shirts, etc. Now, in my opinion, any of these could ruin your testimony. I believe that we should wear proper attire that would not tarnish our Christian reputation. It makes us look like a group of society that is absorbed in sin. For all you NFC students, how many of you would actually dress modestly if it wasn’t for the dress code? The school is not required by God to have a dress code, but we need one. If we didn’t have one, we would look like any other public school. We are not just a school, we are a battalion of God’s army, and we must dress accordingly!

The unsaved live in a secular lifestyle. Some may have high moral standards, but it is rare. Many of them take part in such things as: fornication, drunkenness, adultery, deceit, maliciousness, boasting, and the list goes on.[3] As Christians, we are not suppose to take part in these activities, but we are not perfect. As Christians, we have a set of characteristics that we are to follow. We are to add the “Fruit of the Spirit” to our lives: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control.[4] If we add these character traits, our lives will be more like Christ’s life. We are also to do everything in our life with charity, which means love. If we go through life without love, our life has been futile.[5] “By this will all know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”[6] If we have love towards others, they will know that we are Christians. “For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?”.[7]

As Christians we need to show God’s work in every aspect of our life. The only way for us to reach God’s full potential for our lives is to allow God to clean our lives up. Do not worry, if you pray for God’s help, he will give it to you.[8] He will give you the strength to overcome any obstacle in your life, but you must be willing to take the steps to overcome it. Once you accomplish that, God will use you for more tasks than you can possibly ever imagine. Why be a private when God is willing to promote you to a general!

What I Believe

I believe that every word of the Bible is true. I use mainly the King James or New King James version. I have been saved since I was four and have been baptized. I am a member of North Florida Baptist church.

To be saved you must put your faith on the Lord Jesus Christ. We sin, we were born into sin, and we never stop sinning till we die. Jesus came to the earth and died and rose again in order for us to be able to go to heaven (John 3: 16). If you allow Christ in your life, then you go to heaven. Without Christ you are separated from God. To be separated form God can only lead to one place, hell. I am giving you a chance right now to learn of Christ. Repent, ask for forgiveness, and acknowledge Jesus Christ as you savior.
